Contact bissell for a new pump belt if it is broken. If it still does not spray cleaning formula turn the machine off and unplug it. Make sure that the water tank is full. Use a flat blade screwdriver to open the latch on the belt access door located on the side of the unit.

Stand the machine upright and replace the water tank. If there still is no spray turn machine off and unplug. Depending on which model of carpet cleaner you have you may need to move the handle of the tank back or down to lock it in place. The bissell company produces a variety of machines designed to clean hard floors and carpet.

Remove the tank and set it aside. The tank should fit snugly into place and not wiggle or wobble on the bissell carpet cleaner. If you mark that the soap solution is not spraying turn off your bissell carpet cleaner as early as possible. Remove the door and examine the pump belt for signs of damage or breakage.
